The Board of Directors received a report from the Henry County Hospital Foundation, Inc. The Foundation has agreed to purchase an Infant Warming System for the Birthing Care Services department for $13,300. The money will come from the 2009 Symphony of Trees Fundraiser. The employees at Henry County Hospital have donated over $17,000 to the 7th annual membership fund drive. The Henry County Hospital Auxiliary and Foundation are teaming up this year to ensure that persons walking to the Emergency Care Services Department are protected from elements like rain and snow. Through the recently-initiated Foundation membership drive and the ongoing fundraising efforts by the Auxiliary, a steel structured canopy will be constructed at the ambulatory entrance to the Emergency Care Services Department. The $35,000 project will be built on the northwest side of the hospital and will provide a 330 square foot protective roof for those entering Emergency Care Services.

Kimberly Bordenkircher, Chief Executive Officer presented the hospital monthly report to the Board of Directors:

•The annual Competency Report for Henry County Hospital was presented to the Board of Directors. The purpose of the report provides the governing body an analysis of patterns and trends relating to staff competency, learning and development needs, staffing indicators and requested resources and improvements that have been identified by leadership and staff.
•In March, Bridget Ratcliffe, Registered and Licensed Dietitian and Certified Diabetes Educator gave the Medical Staff an update at the March meeting to discuss the new Diabetes Self-Management program. The hospital has achieved accreditation through the American Association for Diabetes Education and is the first in Henry County to achieve accreditation. This program allows more flexibility to provide education to patients, which allows collaboration with physicians for better outcomes and quality of life for patients. Both Medicare and private insurance carriers require a referral for services.

Mary Clapp, Controller, presented the financial statements for February 2010. There were 55 admissions and 14 births thru January. Days in accounts receivable decreased to 48 days.

The Board of Directors approved to write-off $126,645.29 for bad debt. Bad debt is accounts receivable that will likely remain uncollectible.

The next Board Meeting is scheduled for Monday, May 3, 2010 in the Heller Community Room.
