Napoleon, Ohio - Kim Bordenkircher, Chief Executive Officer of Henry County Hospital, announced
that Certified Nurse Midwife Sara Linkey has joined board certified obstetrician/gynecologist
Erast Haftkowycz, MD, and Certified
Nurse Midwife Jessica Durham at Riverview Women's Care. Sara provides
the full scope of midwifery, which encompasses well-women care throughout
the lifespan along with expertise in the care of women during low-risk
pregnancy, labor and birth.
Sara earned her Bachelor’s of Science in Nursing from Mercy College
of Northwest Ohio and holds a Master’s in Nursing along with a Certificate
of Nurse-Midwifery from Frontier Nursing University. She is board certified
through the American Midwifery Certification Board and has over eight
years of experience in the nursing field. Most recently, Sara worked as
a Certified Nurse Midwife at Fairhaven Obstetrics and Gynecology in Goshen, Indiana.
A Sylvania, Ohio, native, Sara and her husband followed her career as a
midwife to Indiana. “I chose Indiana because I wanted to expand
my knowledge by practicing in an area that allows unique birthing experiences,”
said Sara. “During my time there I was able to attend deliveries
away from the hospital setting. This experience gives me unique perspective,
and allows me to provide patients a more intimate, home-like feel when
delivering at Henry County Hospital.” With her new position at Riverview
Women’s Care, she has since relocated to Grand Rapids, Ohio, where
she is happy to be closer to family.
As a Certified Nurse Midwife, Sara’s primary focus is on helping
women understand that they have options when it comes to their healthcare.
“I became a Certified Nurse Midwife because I want to help women
have more of a voice in their healthcare,” said Sara. “I have
experienced first-hand what it is like to feel like you don’t have
a say in your healthcare, and I want to be a part of making women’s
healthcare better. I want to help educate women on their options and give
them the support they need to have their voices heard.”
Sara’s practice encompasses areas of Obstetrics and Gynecology including:
annual exams/pap smears, family planning, infertility, pregnancy and labor
support, menopausal and menstrual issues. She is experienced in well-women
care and offers expectant mothers pre-natal care, delivery, and post-natal
care in the close to home, Henry County Hospital. In addition, Sara has
personal interests in natural family planning and natural remedies, which
offers patients additional options in their healthcare.
