NAPOLEON, OHIO – November 2, 2026 — Henry County Hospital has been awarded $1 million through the Ohio Department of Development's Advanced Energy Fund to support significant energy efficiency improvements throughout its facilities.
The award was announced October 29 as part of a statewide investment of more than $7.5 million benefiting 11 organizations across Ohio. The program supports projects designed to reduce energy consumption, lower operating costs, and improve facility efficiency.
Henry County Hospital's planned improvements include energy-efficient LED lighting, chiller replacements, upgrades to building controls and air-handling systems, and improvements to pumps and steam systems.
Together, these enhancements are projected to reduce the hospital's annual energy consumption by approximately 16.2%, creating opportunities for long-term operational savings.
"This investment represents an important opportunity to strengthen our hospital's infrastructure while remaining focused on responsible financial stewardship," said Kristi Barnd, Chief Executive Officer of Henry County Hospital. "By improving the efficiency of our facilities and reducing long-term operating expenses, we are making thoughtful investments that support the future of healthcare in our community."
As healthcare organizations continue to navigate rising operational costs, investments in infrastructure and energy efficiency play an important role in maintaining financial stability and supporting essential healthcare services.
For Henry County Hospital, the funding represents more than facility improvements. It reflects an ongoing commitment to using resources responsibly, maintaining a sustainable healthcare environment, and ensuring the hospital remains positioned to meet the needs of patients and families throughout the region.
"Every opportunity to improve efficiency allows us to be more intentional with our resources and reinforces our commitment to providing high-quality healthcare close to home," added Barnd.
The award is part of the Ohio Department of Development's Advanced Energy Fund, which supports energy efficiency projects for businesses, nonprofit organizations, educational institutions, and public entities throughout Ohio.
