Henry County Hospital and ProMedica Announce Planned Affiliation to Support Local Healthcare for Future Generations
- Category: News
NAPOLEON, Ohio – October 6, 2026 – Henry County Hospital and ProMedica today announced their plan to enter into a new management affiliation designed to strengthen and sustain healthcare services for Henry County residents while preserving the hospital’s longstanding commitment to local care, local leadership and the community it serves. The affiliation agreement is expected to be finalized by the end of October 2026.
The affiliation will bring together two organizations with a shared commitment to improving the health and well-being of the communities they serve. Through a management services agreement, Henry County Hospital will maintain its local governance and community-focused approach while benefiting from additional resources, expanded clinical collaboration and the support of ProMedica’s regional network.
Building on the strong foundation already established by Henry County Hospital, the planned affiliation is intended to enhance access to care, support future growth, strengthen provider recruitment and retention, and create new opportunities to meet the evolving healthcare needs of the community.
“This planned affiliation will allow us to build on our strengths while remaining true to who we are,” said Kristi Barnd, CEO of Henry County Hospital. “Most importantly, it will build on the incredible work of our physicians, advanced practice providers, nurses, employees, volunteers and board members. Their commitment to our patients and community is what makes Henry County Hospital special, and that will not change. Our community will continue to receive the local, personalized care they expect from Henry County Hospital while benefiting from additional resources, expanded access to specialty services and the support of a trusted regional health system. Together, we are working to create new opportunities to ensure high-quality healthcare remains available close to home for generations to come.”
For decades, Henry County Hospital has served as a cornerstone of healthcare in the community, providing patient-centered care through its physicians, advanced practice providers, nurses, employees, volunteers and support staff. Through the planned affiliation, patients will continue to receive care from the providers they know and trust while benefiting from greater collaboration across a broader healthcare network.
“For generations, Henry County Hospital has earned the trust of local families through exceptional care and a deep commitment to this community,” said Arturo Polizzi, president and CEO of ProMedica. “What impressed us most is the strong culture of care that already exists here. Our goal is not to change what makes this organization successful. Our goal is to support it. By combining Henry County Hospital’s deep local relationships with ProMedica’s clinical resources and regional network, we can create even more opportunities for patients to receive high-quality care close to home.”
Community members can expect continued access to trusted local providers and services, along with strengthened care delivery through enhanced care coordination, expanded clinical resources and improved access to specialty care. The planned affiliation is also expected to create new opportunities for caregivers and employees through access to additional resources, professional development and collaboration across a broader healthcare network.
The organizations plan on working together to identify opportunities that improve the patient experience, support caregivers and providers, and help ensure the long-term sustainability of local healthcare services.
The planned affiliation also reflects a shared commitment to keeping healthcare decisions focused on the needs of local residents. Local governance will remain a key component of the relationship, helping ensure care continues to be shaped by the people and communities Henry County Hospital serves every day.
“Henry County deserves strong, community-based healthcare,” Arturo Polizzi said. “This planned affiliation is about investing in the future while honoring the legacy that already exists. Together, we are planning to build on a strong foundation and create even greater opportunities for patients, families, providers, employees and the community.”
Leaders from both organizations emphasize that patients should continue to seek care as they normally would. Hospital operations, medical practices and services will continue uninterrupted when the affiliation is implemented.
As the relationship evolves, Henry County Hospital and ProMedica plan to continue to engage physicians, employees, community leaders and other stakeholders to ensure the affiliation remains focused on what matters most: delivering exceptional care close to home while supporting the people who make that care possible every day.
