The Henry County Hospital Board of Directors held their monthly board meeting
on Monday, November 4, 2013 in the Heller Community Room at Henry County
Hospital. Present at the meeting were Marv Barlow; Vice Chairman, Kimberly
Bordenkircher, Chief Executive Officer; Rick Fruth, Tom Mack, Dr. Robert
Limbird, John Wilhelm, Anne Goon and Jim Burkhart. Also present were Diane
Walther, Controller; Patricia Frank, Chief Nursing Officer and Lee Ann
Druhot, Executive Assistant.
Kim Bordenkircher, Chief Executive Officer, presented the hospital monthly
report to the Board of Directors:
- Jordan Vetomskie, a student at Bowling Green State University, is doing
an internship at Henry County Hospital for the next few months. Jordan
will be attending several meetings as well as working on some projects
in HIMS. As part of his internship experience, he will be meeting with
all of the department managers and officers to learn more about the everyday
activities in the various areas of the hospital.
- The Hospital made 64 on the Best Places to Work list. In addition, we received
an Excellence in Patient Care award for improvement in Core Measures scores.
- On October 21, 2013, by a vote of 5-2, the Ohio Controlling Board approved
the Ohio Department of Medicaid's request seeking authorization to
spend federal-only funds to extend Medicaid coverage under the Affordable
Care Act. Approval of these funds by the Controlling Board allows for
extended health coverage to Ohioans at or below 138% of the federal poverty
level beginning Jan. 1, 2014. This significant moment will result in thousands
of Ohioans receiving access to healthcare coverage. The efforts of the
Northwest Ohio Medicaid Expansion Coalition were key in demonstrating
the strong grassroots support that exists in our region for expanded health coverage.
- Diane Walther, Controller, presented the financial statements for September
2013. There were 62 admissions and 10 births through September. Days in
accounts receivable increased to 45.
- The next Board Meeting is scheduled for Monday, December 2, 2013 in the
Heller Community Room.
