Parkinson's, Stroke, and Multiple Sclerosis Therapy
Henry County Hospital offers LSVT BIG therapy. This is a whole body, high-amplitude-based exercise program triggering activation across motor systems. Research has shown that this exercise can improve brain function and slow disease progression. LSVT BIG can be modified for the patient, but typically includes four days a week for 4 consecutive weeks totaling 16 hours of individual sessions at high effort.
- The LSVT Big Program focusing on enhancing a patient's ability for:
- Handwriting
- Buttoning of clothes and fasteners
- Picking up small objects
- Bathing
- Dressing
- Tying strings or shoelaces
- Reducing fall risk
- Building stamina and endurance while ambulating
Periodic assessments are available throughout the year to assess gains made or detect early losses of functional skills.
- Symptoms that may benefit from LSVT BIG and LOUD:
- Parkinson's - it is shown to help in all stages of the disease
- Multiple Sclerosis
- Stroke
In addition, we also offer LSVT LOUD therapy. LSVT Loud improves vocal loudness by stimulating the muscles of the voicebox and speech mechanism through a systematic hierarchy of exercises. Treatment improves overall speech intelligibility; meaning patients are able to be easier understood when speaking. LSVT LOUD is an intensive program that is completed 4 days a week for 4 weeks. Sessions are typically 45 minutes to an hour long. Results typically last up to two years after treatment.

Sarah is amazing. She walked me through everything we did and gave me the "why" behind it. She listened to my concerns and made sure to address then.
